'Steven Seagal' sighting; Stangs of South Florida; Renovations; Tiki Bash!! All at Holiday Isle Resort & Marina, Islamorada, Florida Keys!!

Holiday Isle Resort and Marina in beautiful Islamorada, Florida Keys, has been a buzz of activity over the past months with a surprise visit from actor Steven Seagal, the Mustang Club 'Stangs of South Florida', and Renovations.

One evening in March, Dockmaster Kat Harper was assisting a boat into the Marina when, to her surprise, actor Steven Seagal, threw her a dock line. Mr. Seagal, and his family, were in town for several days of fun fishing and was kind enough to allow Kat a picture.

The Mustang Club, 'Stangs of South Florida' made their annual trip to Holiday Isle Resort in September.  The club makes this trip to honor those who died on September 11 in the attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and United Flight 93.

Club members put hours and hours into creating a 'Memorial Wall', complete with pictures, and info, about every person who died in the attack on September 11th. It is truly a heartfelt display. If you would like to see this wonderful exhibit, watch our calendar for the next scheduled 'Stangs of South Florida' visit in September of 2011.

Renovations are underway at the Isle. Construction crews work on the Tower Bldg. balconies. When completed, the building will have a completely new facade. Roofing is scheduled to begin shortly. Room renovations will follow. The Isle will remain open during these renovations, with only sections of the buildings closed at a time.  The Bimini Row Shops are now gone and the World Famous Tiki Bar now has a beautiful ocean view from the ground level.

'Fun and Sun' at Holiday Isle Resort and Marina in Islamorada in the beautiful Florida Keys!!!

The sun has come alive at Holiday Isle Beach Resort and Marina and the Isle has come alive with the sun.  The week was a buzz with Spring Breakers and the Bikini Contest drew a great crowd.

UPCOMING EVENTS:  Sunday, March 21, 2010 and Sunday, March 28, 2010.  Spring Break Bikini contests beginning at 2:00pm at Centerstage.

The sun brought out the bathing beauties on the 'Mermaid' rock at the beach.  The 'white head' is the mermaid.  The waters were crystal clear blue which adds to the beauty of the Florida Keys.

The new 'Beach Volleyball' area is sure to be a 'hit' with Spring Breakers and families alike.  It is located at Rumrunners Beach at the North end of the property.

We all welcomed the warmth of the sun after a chilly start to season.  At left, guests enjoy Floaters Pool and catching some rays.

The 'World Famous' Tiki Bar was enjoyed by guests and locals alike.  A great place to kick back, have a 'rumrunner' (invented right here at Holiday Isle) and listen to a variety of music...right on the water.

If you are in the 'mood for food', you can enjoy dining at Jaws Raw Bar or the Wreck Bar.  As evidenced by the picture at left, we had many hungry guests this week.

The crowd came out to hear 'DJ Dave' MC the first Bikini Contest of Spring break at centerstage.  Of course, we all know the crowd was more interested in the 'Beautys' that graced the stage.

The Spring Break Girls came out in full.  Some 30+ contestants vied for the prize.
AND THE WINNER IS.........!!!!!

Guests and customers were not the only visitors at the Isle this week.  This flock of 'hungry' pelicans waited patiently for a few scraps of fish at the Backcountry Fishing Charter Dock at the Marina.

As the sun sets on a beautiful week at the Isle, we look forward to what the new week will bring.  If you would like to join in the fun and sun of Holiday Isle Beach Resort and Marina, visit our website at http://www.holidayisle.com/ and make your plans for a fun getaway in the sun.  It will be our pleasure to make your stay a most memorable one.   Until next week............

On February 18, 19, and 20, 2010, the Florida Powerboat Club (FPC) returned to the 'Isle' for their annual getaway. They visit our Marina and Resort every year the first weekend after the Miami Boat Show with their array of 'colorful' powerboats. Sixty-six boats made the trip this year, including the 'Bat Boat' at left, complete with painted detail of Batman' and Gotham City.

Several booths were set up for the show, and this MTI 'Cat' was an eyecatcher for all visitors.

At right, Stu Jones, President of the Florida Powerboat Club poses for 'our' camera after doing a photo shoot of the 'Girls of the FPC' segment of his FPC magazine.

The Marina was a 'Sea of Color'!!!

At right, another beautiful boat of the FPC was the 'Red Corvette' boat. The boat is made with actual corvette parts and is a beauty to behold. At left, a beautiful yacht that visited the Marina prior to the FPC's arrival.
Valentine's Day weekend was a buzz with visitors who enjoyed the annual Holiday Isle Resort Sweetheart Arts and Crafts Festival with handmade jewelry, clothing, glass art, artists, handmade instruments, and much, much more.

On Saturday, February 13, in conjunction with the Arts and Crafts Festival, Holiday held a 'silent auction' for Haitian Relief. It was a great success!!

J.R. Reeder and Iwalani returned to the stage at the Tiki Bar for the first time in years to perform for Haitian Relief. 'Billy' from Connecticut joined in the fun with the Hawaiian Balls!! Great job Billy!

J.R. and Iwalani thrilled the crowd with Hawaiian Dance and J.R.'s Rhythm and Blues music.

An artisan from the Crafts Festival, Eddie Osborne, relaxes in the sun amid his array of handmade african instruments.

A unique craft.....handcarved and painted coconuts fashioned into Tropical Fish!!!

A big hit at the Festival was crafter and 'glassblower' Jay McIver with his unique tropical items fashioned from glass.

In December of 2009, the Miami Dade Police Officer's Run was held at Holiday Isle Resort. Hundreds of Police Officers on motorcycles rolled into Holiday Isle for their annual run.

On November 18, 2009, the Nascar Racer's Invitational Fishing Tournament awards banquet was held at the Tiki Bar at Holiday Isle Resort. The event was catered by Bonefish Grill. At right is Joe Balash and his wife Tammy who fished the event. Joe is the Nationwide Series Director for Nascar. The event was sponsored by AFLAC.

On November 7, 2009, 'Corvettes in Paradise' made their annual trek to Holiday Isle and again the Resort was a sea of color.

Old and new corvettes lined the parking lot. At right, a vintage 'orange' corvette.
